Do you work outside of Palm Beach County?
Yes. While Palm Beach County is the heart of our practice, we design throughout South Florida, north into Martin County, including Stuart, Jupiter Island, and Hobe Sound, and south into Broward County, including Fort Lauderdale and Parkland.
Are you a licensed landscape architect?
Yes. Canopy is led by Louis Vlahos, a Florida Registered Landscape Architect with more than 25 years of experience. That license lets us handle grading, drainage, hardscape, permitting, and construction administration, the full scope of the profession, not planting alone.
What is the difference between a landscape architect and a landscape designer?
A landscape architect holds a state license and can take responsibility for grading, drainage, structures, and permitted work. A landscape designer is an unlicensed title, often focused on planting and gardens. Estate and waterfront projects almost always require a licensed landscape architect.
How much does a residential landscape project cost?
Fees depend on the size and complexity of the property and how far the scope runs, from design only to full construction administration. Design fees are typically structured as a fixed fee or a percentage of the construction budget. We are glad to discuss scope and budget honestly before any commitment.
Do you handle installation, or only design?
We are a design and landscape architecture practice, and we provide construction administration to protect the design through installation. For installation and ongoing care, we partner exclusively with Delray Garden Center, our trusted installation and maintenance partner.
How long does a landscape project take?
Every project is different, but a full estate engagement typically moves through discovery, concept, documentation, and delivery over several months of design before installation begins. We keep the process unhurried and clear, and you approve the plan before anything is planted.
Can you design for waterfront and oceanfront properties?
Yes, and it is a specialty. We design salt tolerant, storm resilient grounds for oceanfront and Intracoastal estates, grading for surge and buffering wind while protecting the water views that define these properties.
Do you use native plants?
Whenever it serves the design, yes. Native and Florida friendly species use less water, resist pests, recover from storms, and carry a genuine sense of place. We compose them with the same care as any garden.
Will you work with my architect and builder?
Absolutely. We coordinate closely with architects, builders, and interior designers so that the landscape and the architecture read as one composition, and we align on grading, drainage, lighting, and hardscape from early in the project.
