What Does a Residential Landscape Architect Cost in Palm Beach County?
It is the most common question we are asked, and the most reasonable. Here is how landscape architecture is actually priced.
Every property is different, so no one can quote an estate landscape from a phone call. But the way fees are structured is not a mystery, and understanding it helps you plan.
How landscape architects charge
Most residential landscape architecture is priced one of three ways: a fixed design fee for a defined scope, an hourly rate for open ended or evolving work, or a percentage of the total construction budget for full service projects. For a complete estate engagement, a percentage of construction model is common because it scales with the ambition of the project.
What drives the number
The size and complexity of the site, the level of detail in the grounds, waterfront and permitting challenges, and how far the scope runs, from design only to full construction administration, all move the figure. A courtyard is not an oceanfront estate, and the fee reflects that.
Design fee versus installation
It is worth separating two things: the landscape architect's design fee, and the cost of actually building the landscape, the plants, hardscape, lighting, and labor. The design fee is a fraction of the whole. The installation is where most of the budget lives, and good design is what keeps that budget from being wasted on plants that fail or plans that get rebuilt.
The real return
On the properties we work on, the grounds are a meaningful share of the home's value and nearly all of its daily experience. A considered landscape protects that investment and, done well, appreciates with it. We are glad to talk through scope and budget honestly before any commitment, start a conversation here.
